Bargain is here to stay

We entered the school gates
Hand in hand
And walked together barefeet
Leaving footprints in the sand.

We passed each other notes
In the boring bio class
And ran away from the cricket field
When we broke Badhur uncle's glass

When I was down with fever
Hot soup you used to get
And I gave you my umbrella
During heavy rains, while I got wet

When exams were around the corner
And our minds were full of doubts
We used to sit together and study
And help each other out

When I needed a pat on the back
You were always there for me
We were meant for each other
Like waves are meant for the sea

Our life was so happy
We never used to cry
We had fun in the sun
Under the clear, blue sky

You used to give me your joy
And take all my pain
In our wonderful friendship
There was no word as bargain

Those days of sharing have gone
Bargaining is what we do
When we give each other gifts
We want a return gift too

If you give me a box of chocolates
You want me to give you three
Our friendship isn't about "us"
We only think of the word "me"

Where are those happy times
Let them come back God, I pray
Otherwise compromise will fill our lives

Cause bargain is here to stay.

I SEE A LAND

I see a land

With clear blue skies,

I see a land

Without any cries.

I see a land

With a golden sun,

I see a land

Without any gun.

I see a land

Of joy and glee,

I see a land

For you and me.

I see a land

Where foes are friends,

I see a land

Where friendship never ends.

I see a land

Without any fights,

I see a land

Of moonlit nights.

I see a land

Where love is food,

I see a land

Of brotherhood.

I see a land

Without any crimes,

I see a land

Of endless time.

I see a land

Where there are no jails,

I see a land

Where peace prevails.

I see a land

Of warless days,

I see a land

Without dull greys.

I see a land

Where all are free,

I see a land

Of harmony.

THE DANGER BEGINS HERE...

I look at those innocent faces,
Those faces that find no reason to continue their lives,
Those faces that seem confused about themselves.
What had they done wrong?
Why had they been pushed out of their homes?
Tumors, tuberculosis, cancers,
It all seems “a part of their life”.
No one cares for their skin problems,
No one is worried about their diseases.
The UCIL is selfish,
Selfish for uranium,
That lies below the grounds cultivated by the forest dwellers,
Selfish, since they have no heart,
No desire to protect our mother earth.
Extra toes, less fingers, ill proportioned body,
A way of life…
The smiling Buddha,
Little Boy,
Fat Man,
The call for disaster…
When I look at those faces,
Those perplexed faces,
Those blameless faces,
Tears come in my eyes…
